Swim-a-thon
Dear Barracuda Swimmers and Parents,
On July 12th (swimmers with last names starting with A-L) and July 13th (swimmers with last names starting with M-Z), we will have one of our largest annual team fundraisers in the form of a Swim-a-thon!
Swimmers collect pledges per lap (or flat rate donations) from friends/family/neighbors, then challenge themselves to swim as many laps as possible in 2 hours.
Ages 10 and up: Arrive at 8am
Ages 9 and under: Arrive at 8:30
(No regular practice this day, only the Swimathon)
Swimmers will make their own personal lap goal to try to meet, and there are set practice group lap goals as well.
Parents, please help your younger children set reasonable yet challenging personal goals for themselves ahead of the swim-a-thon.
Practice group lap goals are as follows:
Tadpoles (4-6 years) – 10 laps
Minnows (7-8 years) – 50 laps
Dolphins (9-10 years) – 150 laps
Sharks (11-18 years) – 200 laps
There will be free Gatorade and prizewinning opportunities for meeting personal and group lap goals during the swim-a-thon.Prizes for top earners and most laps will also be awarded for each practice group at the end of the season party.
We rely on parent volunteers to help with encouragement and lap counting during the event. This is a lot of fun! Please sign-up to count laps via the Swim-a-thon events on the team’s website.
This is a great opportunity for kids to tell friends, family and neighbors about our amazing team as they ask for their support in this fundraising endeavor.
Money should be turned in to ME directly (not coaches or guards) and is due by Friday, July 21st.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.Pledge sheets will be handed out at practice. We look forward to seeing you at the swim-a-thon!
Thanks!
